Atos and IBM, two key players in digital transformation and professional services, have partnered to help boost cloud migration for banks and insurance companies.
The partnership will focus around a new “Atos Cloud Centre of Excellence”.
The centre’s goal will be to increase security and regulatory compliance for financial services companies that are moving their workloads to the cloud.
In a joint statement the companies said: “With the pandemic providing sharp focus to digitalise businesses in response to changing customer and market trends, banks and insurance companies are moving their applications to the cloud at speed. The shift is easier said than done, though, and their sense of urgency must be matched with determination to select the right partner to unlock long-term opportunities.
“Atos and IBM intend to support financial services clients through the creation of a new Atos Cloud Centre of Excellence. It will provide technology and financial services expertise for clients, backed by dedicated Atos professionals who are trained on IBM Cloud for Financial Services, IBM Cloud Paks and Red Hat OpenShift.”
The news comes as part of Atos and IBM’s expanded relationship that began in January with a collaboration on AI to optimise manufacturing and logistics companies’ operations.
Subsequent collaboration came in July with both companies joining forces to build a secure digital infrastructure for the Dutch Ministry of Defence.
Howard Boville, head of the IBM cloud platform, said: “IBM Cloud for Financial Services aims to address the risks the industry is facing with built-in controls focused on the regulatory barriers that have historically impeded digital transformation.
“The new Atos Cloud Centre of Excellence will combine IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI solutions with Atos’ industry experts trained and certified for those solutions, as well as automation capabilities to accelerate innovation throughout the industry without sacrificing security.”
